Consisting of four 2-level penthouse apartments that sit on top of the 13-story office tower at 36 Customhouse Quay, the dwellings command outstanding views over the Wellington Harbour and City. The apartments required a complete refurbishment as part of the building earthquake strengthening. Considerable interventions relating to re-strengthening, acoustic and fire rating upgrades, and new services were all accommodated seamlessly within the design.
Significant improvements to the apartments were achieved with minimal change to the existing layouts, including creating access to a roof area that provides large rooftop terraces for 2 apartments; improved relationships between spaces and additional bedrooms and bathrooms.
Carefully considered detailing, material selection and lighting ensure the apartments provide the contemporary, sophisticated accommodation demanded by their premium harbour front location.
